At least that's what it's beginning to sound like. The Leader speaks tonight and from what my son (the one inside the Belt Way) is telling me it's get your best gal and sit down and watch if you can't be there. The mainstream media is hyping the thing to the roof beliving Mr. Obama is back on his game and of course with the media it's all about how it is said not what it means. The Leader is good at that, but we shall wait and try to determine the substance of his remarks (he's not very good at substance) before commenting. Here's hoping he takes advantage of a great moment in time and faces the problems squarely and that the loyal opposition is ready to play ball.
Meanwhile, in the surreal, Davos is upon us again. The N.Y. Times put together a puff piece on how much Davos costs that turns out to really be a shocker. If one does it right and arrives with a four person entourage, one of which MUST be a woman (I'm not even going to go near that one), it will probably cost one the better part of $1,000,000. Can you imagine how much good could be done in the world if all the attendees simply said "screw it, I'm staying home and giving the money to a local charity?" That means you, Bono. Quietly, anonomously, in a manner that doesn't get your butt kissed. You'll get that enough throughout the year. What an utter waste of time and money.
Anyway, I've positioned the sofa, got the chips and a couple of beers ready and am really beginning to get excited about tonight's events. If you want to skip them and watch re-runs of The Monkeys, go right ahead. I'll let you know what happened tomorrow...assuming I survive.
