HAPPY NEW YEAR

Stumbled downstairs this morning.  It was a simply beautiful, clear, gorgeous day at 9:00 a.m.   Temperature was -5 F.  It is now -11.  I cannot remember the last time I watched the temperature decline throughout a sun-filled day from these levels.  Brutal, simply brutal.

Anyway, we're back from half a Christmas season with one set of grand kids on the East Coast.  Christmas for the Midwest contingent is this coming weekend and I was pleasantly surprised that since we set off on our Grandparents Santa run, we didn't miss much.  Washington shut for the holidays and no one noticed; the regulators kept stealing from J.P. Morgan; it became even more clear, if it hadn't been, that Obamacare is going to be the dominant event of this political election year unless on the international front something quite extraordinary occurs which in fact could be the case although it is apparent that The Leader will do, agree or submit to practically anything to avoid conflict.  The flip side of that is should there be a major political or financial event anywhere, don't count on the U. S. to weigh in  in any matter other than kicking and screaming. The focus is domestic.

So, beginning tomorrow we are off again trying to make some sense out of all this assuming we haven't turned into a block of ice in the night.  -18 expected at dawn's early light.  Aux armes.
